The Town of Lincoln's Comprehensive Long Range Plan was accepted at the 2009 Town Meeting. A key issue identified in the plan was the economic sustainability of Lincoln's small commerical area, Lincoln Station. In 2010 a Planning Board subcommittee was formed to study and make recommendations for Lincoln Station. The study was completed in 2014 and documents the advantages & challenges for Lincoln Station, supported by background information including demographics, infrastructure, & site constraints. It also includes a comparative study of how four towns with similar characteristics have achieved positive results in revitalizing commerical centers. Three options for action are proposed each requring a different level of town effort & investment. The Planning Board's hope is that this study will assist the Town in choosing which path to pursue.

The Conway School of Ecological Landscape Design & Planning is partnering with the Lincoln Planning Board to develop a site plan that re-envisions the Mall at Lincoln Station as a lively, multi-use central gathering space for residents and visitors alike. They will be assessing Lincoln Station and the area for possible streetscape & landscaping improvements to create a cohesive, more pedestrian-friendly district, exploring public amenities: benches, tables, bike racks etc., pedestrian circulation and crossing, and public gathering areas.
